We acquired this historic elementary school that had been abandoned for 20 years from Atlanta Public Schools and set about on an adaptive re-sue and historic preservation project. We took an old building with extensive water damage and created affordable housing, an artists' community, office space for non-profits, and a coffeehouse and events space while preserving and reusing original materials and abiding by strict historic preservation standards. It is an investment that will not see a financial return for many many years, but an investment in the community's current needs and preserving the communities past that is already paying dividends.
